UBC hydrogen project in Alberta
We have developed a new technology to produce low-cost, low-emission hydrogen from natural gas.
With support from Alberta Innovates, NRCan, NGIF, CRIN, and industrial partners, we have deployed this solution in Alberta.
A pilot plant
It took us less than 3 years and less than $10M to scale from a prototype to a full pilot plant in an industrial site.
This is the first plant that uses molten metals to produce hydrogen from natural gas in the world.
Ready to be commercialized
We have commissioned our pilot plant during one of the coldest January’s. The plant is fully operational and we are getting results on the quality of the solid carbon, the purity of the hydrogen, and the production efficiency that we will share accordingly.
We spun out a company to commercialize the technology. Please go to VulcanX to know more.
